Executive Mayor of Johannesburg Herman Mashaba officially opened our newest temporary exhibition “The Goldene Medina: Celebrating 175 Years of Jewish Life in SA.” Created by the South African Jewish Museum, and brought to the JHGC with the support of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies.

This exhibition is a celebration of the birth and evolution of a community. It tells the story of the SA Jewish community from 1841 to 2016; comprising of a collection of personal anecdotes, indicative of the shared experiences of the community.

The exhibition can be viewed weekdays from 8.30am-5pm and select Sunday from 9am-3pm (21 and 28 May; 4 and 11 June). Running until 18 June! For group or school bookings contact thuli@jhbholocaust.co.za
