Invisible Years: Hiding Places

Prof. Dienke Hondius will present her “Mapping Hiding Places” project, focusing on hiding in the Netherlands, including the 27 hiding places of the family in Invisible Years. Prof. Kiene Brillenburg Wurth will focus on one hiding place—the Breeplein Church in Rotterdam—where her grandparents risked their lives to hide the grandparents of Daphne Geismar and Sharon Strauss. Brillenburg Wurth will retrace the stories from the perspective of protectors, and from accounts of onderduikers’ (people in hiding), in Invisible Years.
